Bin Laden in ‘Mankatha’

No serious reference to the al-Qaeda leader. But a song whose starting lines have his name has been recorded recently for ‘Mankatha’, the 50th film of Ajith directed by Venkat Prabhu.

The ‘Va da…Bin Lada…’ number composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja was crooned by Krish and Suchitra and the output was excellent, a source close to the unit tells us.

“It was a romantic number to be shot on Ajith and Trisha. The song will be one of the highlights of the film, for Yuvan has come out with rocking music with the voices of Krish and Suchitra adding to it,” the sources says.

Giving more one more update on the project, the source adds: “Most part of the shoot is over and Venkat Prabhu is gearing up to release the film on May 1, the birthday of Thala.” ‘Mankatha’ is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies.

'Mankatha' release postponed to June

Thala Ajith's 50th film 'Mankatha', which was suppose to grace theatres on Ajith's birthday (May 1), has now been postponed.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film also stars Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Premji Amaren, Arjun and Vaibhav in prominent roles.

The Mankatha team is currently busy with its final schedule in Mumbai which will go on till April 16. However, the talkie portion and two songs are yet to be shot. Apart from all these, we have the exciting IPL and Tamil Nadu elections in May. So considering all these factors, the producers have decided to postpone the release to June.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that the film will be a complete action-thriller that will narrate the match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches.

Trisha’s dad in ‘Mankatha’

Jayaprakash, arguably the most sought after character artiste in Kollywood these days, has found himself a place in the ‘Mankatha’ game. Yes, he is doing a crucial role in this 50th film of Ajith, directed by Venkat Prabhu.

The producer of many hit movies, Jayaprakash will play Trisha’s father in ‘Mankatha’. In the meantime, he is happy with the feedback he received for his performance in Mysskin’s ‘Yudham Sei’.

In the film produced by AGS Entertainment, he brilliantly played an alcoholic pathologist alongside Cheran. Interestingly, it was Cheran who introduced Jayaprakash as an actor in ‘Mayakannadi’.

For those who want to know more about the origin of the rapport between Cheran and Jayaprakash, it dates back to the late 1990s, when the latter produced ‘Porkaalam’, a movie directed by the former.

Andrea denies Mankatha's rumours

We wouldn't be wrong if we said that Mankatha is one of the most talked about films in Kollywood.

After several rumours that did the rounds, including how Trisha was playing a slum-dweller in the film, it's now all about Andrea. The latest buzz is that this pretty lass, who has sung for Venkat Prabhu's earlier film, Goa, is paired opposite Ajith. However, when contacted, Andrea rubbished the report and said that she was not doing the film and that it was Trisha who was playing the lead.

'Mankatha' music on May 1

Not ready to disappoint Ajith fans who would not be able to see their Thala on screen in 'Mankatha' as planned on May 1, director Venkat Prabhu and his team are working to release the film's audio on the birthday of the Ultimate Star.

Circles close to Venkat Prabhu told IndiaGlitz that the movie's music album, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, will be released on May 1 at a grand function in Chennai. "The film will hit the screens within the next few weeks of the audio release," they said.

"A couple of crucial scenes and songs have to be shot. Venkat Prabhu is currently working round the clock on ‘Mankatha’. So the film would sure see the light of the day in a couple of months," they said, adding all the nine songs composed for 'Mankatha' by Yuvan would top the charts.

Yuvan's Mankatha audio to rock

Yuvan Shankar Raja and director Venkat Prabhu have always dished out super hit music in films like Chennai-28, Saroja and Goa.

Now the duo is all set to create history with the music of Mankatha, Ajith's 50th film.

Both Yuvan and Venkat have been tweeting and continuously promoting Mankatha music.

Yuvan is said to have given nine completed tracks, which the director feels is going to be chartbusters.

Venkat Prabhu tweeted: "Six songs composed!!! Three songs recorded!!There will be a promo song!!! One club mix and a Mankatha theme music!! 9tracks!! U1 rocks!!"

All this promotion has made Mankatha music hot, and the buzz is that the music company which normally buys all big Yuvan labels has offered Rs One Crore for the music rights!

Ajith’s 50th film is under discussion. Initally it was said that Ajith is working with Gautam Menon for his 50th film. But now gautam menon has said in a interview that he i not directing the film. Also for a question he answered that he is not aware of directing Ajith’s film after the 50th. Venkat Prabhu has been finalised to direct Ajith’s 50 th film. The heroine and the other details are under discussion. Ajith is keen to make this film a great success. Nagarjuna is expected to act in this film. The tag line of the film will be “Ulle Veliye”. Ajithkumar’s 50th film Mangatha to be directed by Venkat Prabhu commenced on 2nd August with a somber pooja at A V M Rajeswari studios, Chennai. Coincidentally, Ajith entered filmdom on August 2nd eighteen years ago. This golden jubilee film of Ajith is being produced by Dhayanidhi Azhagiri for Cloud Nine films.

While talking about Mangatha, director Venkat Prabhu says, “I am glad to start Mangatha on this auspicious day wherein Ajith began his filmi journey 18 years back. We are shooting the trailer of the film which will be screened in theatres soon.” He went on to add that Mangatha will be a 2011 summer bonanza.

The heroine of the film is yet to be finalized. Telugu star Nagarjuna is playing an important role in Mangatha and along with Premji Amaran, there would be a newcomer by name Mahath. Major part of the film is slated to be canned in exotic overseas locales.

The event saw a dapper Ajith in a grey shirt flashing his trademark smile. The puja was attended by Vivek Rathnavel of Cloud Nine films, Gangai Amaran, S P B Charan, producer Siva, A V M Kumaran and A V M Saravanan along with the technical team of the film.

Trisha's 2nd movie with Ajith

As reported earlier, beautiful actress Neetu Chandra was roped in to play the female lead in Mankatha starring Ajith in protagonist role.  Now the latest buzz is that she has been replaced by Trisha. But the reason for Neetu’s replacement is not known to any one. According to unofficial sources, it could be her connection in the Pakistan Match fixing scandal.  Known to all that Neetu Chandra’s mobile number was spotted in the mobile of Pakistan Player Mohammad Asif who is prime player accused in match fixing.  Got to wait until the actual reason is published officially.  Well this is going to be Trisha’s 2nd venture with Thale Ajith if she is really been roped and signed for the venture.  Earlier she worked with him for the movie titled Kireedam.

Ajith Kumar’s ‘Mankatha’ was into certain speculations as there were rumors of project being dropped. Now, we hear it straight from the shoulders of producers Dayanidhi Azhagiri and Vivek Karunakaran, to have confirmed the film’s release on May 1 for the occasion of Ajith Kumar’s birthday.

Venkat Prabhu director of the film has so far completed three songs, includes title song which was shot in Bangkok, duet between Ajith and Trisha and a kuthu song with Ajith, Premji, Vaibhav and others, both the songs are shot in Chennai. Apart from songs Ajith completed an action sequence by taking heavy risk. To capture the close action scenes during running, walking and turning, he carried a big mount camera weighing 30 kgs on his body. Directed Venkat has brought this idea and Ajith has accepted immediately inspite of having many surgeries on his body.

Mankatha completed rolling the camera in Chennai and will be moving to Mumbai to capture the rest of the scenes.
